Looking at Brennan may remind you of the movie about grumpy old men. His striking facial colors give the impression he is older than his 2-3 year age. He is street wise from his time fending for himself, and can be pretty creative in problem solving. Said in another way, he can be kinda "focused" on getting his way. I've not seen him act aggressively toward other dogs however he will defend himself if others get out of line.
One of my first "laugh out loud" moments was when I saw him lying down full spread with his front legs straddling a dog dish of food while he leisurely enjoyed eating. This has got to be a big change from digging through a trash can. We're trying to get some weight on Brennan. Just imagine what he'll look like when his pretty colored fur grows back in. He had to be shaved down due to all the matted fur.
He is a wonderful boy with the best personality. Yesterday, for the first time, we saw him trying to play with some of the other dogs. Brennan loves to meet and greet new people and new doggies. Recently he met a young lady who sat down on the grass to pet him. Brennan climbed up on her lap and didn't want to leave.
Brennan is not a barker and is overall just pretty "laid back" and seems just happy to be in a home setting. He quickly was perimeter e-fence trained and seems to prefer staying close to us on walks as opposed to running ahead.
We're working on house training and Brennan is resistant to being crated. Our goal is to help change crating to a good experience rather than something he doesn't like.
Overall, I think this guy would be just as happy in an active home as a more quiet home. He just seems universal. Perhaps its just because he just wants to be part of a family.
We've discovered Brennan does have seizures which are being controlled through medication. He is adjusting well to his medication regimen now for this.
