Foster

We have many opportunities to foster, including short term, temporary and permanent foster care.

Temporary Foster Care

Becoming a temporary foster provides care for a dog until his/her adoption. The amount of time in rescue is dependent upon a number of factors, including the age of the dog.

Permanent Foster Care

Permanent foster care provides a loving home for an unadoptable dog who will remain in foster care until his/her death. Cockers will generally be placed into permanent foster status if they are seniors who have medical issues such as heart disease, Cushing's and blindness who are deemed to not be adoptable.

To begin the process of becoming an approved foster parent, you must complete and submit an application. Additionally, you must agree to a home visit by a Columbus Cocker Rescue representative. All decisions made by Columbus Cocker Rescue are final regarding the acceptance or rejection of an application for fostering a Columbus Cocker Rescue dog.

As a foster of Columbus Cocker Rescue, you are willing to assume responsibility for the dog’s welfare and assume financial responsibility for providing food and water for the dog, as well as providing the other basics that all dogs need. All medical costs are covered by the rescue, including medication and procedures. All vetting MUST be completed at our hospital in Gahanna, Ohio. Adoption events are held every month and dogs in temporary foster care are expected to attend those events.
