UPDATE: 11/12/2023 – Permanent foster
1/16/2022 from his foster mom: “Ike gets along fine in my home, has learned to navigate in my single-story home well. He has had 3 different foster sisters since being here and he co-exists well with all (as they pretty much leave him alone). He does have some separation anxiety – he isn’t destructive but gets very stressed. For this reason, I give him a little Trazadone when I am going to leave the house for more than an hour. This is in addition to his daily doggie Prozac He enjoys dog walks around the neighborhood. He still gets spooked by noises and strangers but easily redirected. He likes to be petted but will walk away when he has had enough.”
7/3/2021 -Ike has done wonderfully recovering from his double eye enucleation surgery (due to painful glaucoma – he was already blind). He is still a little sensitive to strangers touching his head. But, overall, feeling much better! Ike is adjusting well to his foster home and with his new foster dog sister. Outside the home he gets easily spooked by noises and strangers – but he can be easily redirected with treats. 😉
Ike (6-8 year old black cocker – stray) who will be having his eyes removed due to severe glaucoma. Came into Rescue 4/12/2021
