Meet Daisy Mae from Arkansas!!
Daisy Mae came into rescue from our rescue partner in Tennessee who rescued nine mill breeder dogs from wire cages in Arkansas. Daisy Mae is a double merle dog. The merle gene is a rare mutation resulting in a desirable color that buyers pay premium for. If two merles are mated, 25% of their offspring are blind and deaf, one of the other, both or one sense impaired, and sometimes they are born without eyes. Reputable breeders do not breed merle on merle.
Although somewhat visually impaired, and only able to hear a few sounds, Daisy Mae is highly functional. She gets around well, makes friends with other dogs, and seems to fit in easily.
